Below you'll see us playing our Five Frame Concentration game. Throughout the year we'll be using five and ten frames to "see" numbers. These frames will allow us to instantly see how many dots without even counting. Dot cards, dice, and dominoes fall into this category, as well. We've been playing various dice games to allow children to build these mental images of numbers. This is actually called subitizing. Next, one of our classmates is sharing a book she wrote at home. This share was more powerful than any lesson I could have taught! She really encouraged and inspired the children to "just try...that's all you have to do! Writing books is so much fun!" Our ants are slowing down. We took our last pictures with the ant habitats and glued them into our journals. Don't we have an adorable class?!
