On Friday Mr. Ed came back to Sprague School as our Visiting Author! He was a custodian at Sprague for many years. While Mr. Ed was still at Sprague he wrote a book on his free time about what happens at school when you're not there. He used to come into my classroom, and many others, to share his book and tell the children it was his dream to have it published. It brought tears to my eyes to see Mr. Ed standing up in front of all of us with his published book--after seventeen years of trying! He told the children getting his book published was like trying to fit through a hole in the middle of a paper. He showed us how the paper only fit over his head. Next he talked about all the different people that helped him along the way. After each person, he made a little cut in a new piece of paper. At the end of his journey, Mr. Ed opened the new paper, and it turned out to be big enough for his entire body to fit through. Not only is he an author, he's magic, too! The children were amazed, and I was just thrilled! Before Mr. Ed's visit we all drew our own pictures of what happens at school at night. Kacper's picture was picked to be in the presentation! You can see him standing up for recognition.
